About The Inky Deer
-
Hi, I'm Daisy 🌼 The watercolour artist and illustrator behind The Inky Deer 🦌 Thanks so much for stumbling upon my work! 🖤
I've been painting and drawing for as long as I can remember. After briefly studying Art and Design at college, this enabled me to find some courage, develop my passion, and help me discover how much I enjoyed painting all things nature inspired. However, unfortunately I really started to struggle with my mental health at this time, so had to take a step back to refocus. Then in 2014 I started 'The Inky Deer', which helped me to find my path again. I started exhibiting my paintings in local galleries, as well as selling my handmade greetings cards.
Over the years, this gradually evolved into a range of giclée prints, Christmas cards and other hand illustrated goods such as stationery, wrapping paper and much more!
Whilst occasionally delving into other media, my work primarily features watercolour alongside ink.
Inspired by animals and flora and fauna, I'm constantly influenced by the ever changing environment, surrounding countryside where I live on the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire border, and wildlife in the wider world too. I love traditional botanical illustrations, old books, and campaigning for wildlife and the environment. All of these things heavily influence my work, and I aim to create artwork that inspires others to appreciate the wonders of nature too 😊🌿
I enjoy working on commissions for personal and commercial clients. In the past I have worked with Tinker Tailor London to design commemorative and festive decorations. My hand painted designs have also been sold in a number of retail shops for clients including: Fortnum and Mason, Liberty of London, Pia Jewellery, Fenwick, The Royal Shakespeare Company, as well as Historic Royal Palaces, and Westminster Abbey Shop. -
